High Temperature Spring

In the high-temperature environment of steel mills (such as continuous casting machines, heat treatment furnaces, rolling equipment, etc.), high temperature springs are key components to ensure the stable operation of the equipment, and are required to maintain elasticity at high temperatures (usually 300~800℃), corrosive atmospheres (e.g., oxidation, sulfide), and dynamic loads for a long period of time.

Core performance requirements

1. High-temperature elastic stability: at high temperatures can still maintain a high modulus of elasticity, to avoid stress relaxation or creep deformation, the working temperature range is common 300 ~ 600 ℃, special scenarios up to 800 ℃ or more.
2. Antioxidant and corrosion resistance: Resist oxidized skin, water vapor, sulfide and acid and alkali media erosion in the steel mill environment.
3. Fatigue resistance: subject to high-frequency dynamic loads (such as continuous casting machine vibration device), fatigue life of up to 10⁶ ~ 10⁷ cycles.
4. Mechanical strength: high temperature tensile strength ≥ 800MPa, yield strength ≥ 600MPa (Inconel 718 as an example).

Maintenance and life management

1. Visual inspection: monthly observation of surface oxidation, cracks or deformation.
2. Stretch test: Measure the preset load attenuation of the spring at high temperature every quarter (allowed ≤10%).
3. Fatigue life modeling: based on Miner’s linear cumulative damage theory, combined with the number of cycles of working conditions to estimate the remaining life.
4. High-temperature creep model: Larson-Miller parametric method to predict the failure time of stress relaxation.
5. Replacement is required when the elasticity decay >20%, surface crack depth >0.1mm, and free height change >5%.
